Mukesh Advani

Mukesh is Special Counsel at Guy Kornblum & Associates , where he specializes in appellate work and complex general civil litigation matters with a special focus on insurance coverage and bad faith cases on behalf of policyholders, business, commercial, employment, real estate, and personal injury litigation. In his twenty-five year practice, Mukesh has represented major institutional and individual clients in a variety of civil litigation matters. Mukesh has been lead counsel in several dozen appellate matters, many of which are published. His most notable Supreme Court decisions include Kraus v. Trinity Management, 23 Cal.4th 116 (2000), in which he was the lead counsel for defendants in front of the California Supreme Court in a major unfair competition Law case. Mukesh was also counsel for Dr. Allen Hassan in a landmark California Supreme Court case, Hassan v. Mercy Hospital 31 Cal.4th 709 (2003). In addition to litigation practice, Mukesh has also worked for clients on general corporate matters, including entity formations, private financings, governance of corporations and limited liability companies, incentive compensation and stock option issuance, founders' matters, employment issues and commercial contracts.

Mukesh has published articles and taught continuing legal education classes on appellate practice and law practice management issues. He is the founder and past-president of the original South Asian Bar Association ("SABA") in San Francisco which was the inspiration for formation of dozens of SABA chapters across North America with thousands of members. Mukesh has received several awards, including Minority Bar Coalition's Award for Outstanding Service to Community. He is currently serving as Joint Coordinator of the Indian American Task Force on Terrorism. Mukesh started award winning free legal clinics at the India Community Center in Milpitas, California. Mukesh has also served as co-chair of the TiE Silicon Valley sponsorship committee which raised more than a million dollars for its annual convention.

   

 

 

John Bace

John Bace is an award winning researcher, writer, and communicator familiar with multiple research methodologies, strong business acumen, and integrated marketing communications methodologies. He is a recognized expert in information technology and public policy issues, including e-discovery. John worked for Gartner, Inc. for 14 years where headed up Gartner’s Compliance and Risk Management Research Community. He is a certified compliance and ethics professional (CCEP) as well as a member of The Sedona Conference working groups on electronic document retention, management, and disclosure. John has more than 25 years of experience in IT research, marketing, and management for hardware, software, and service vendors. For five years, he was a professor at Northwestern University, where he taught graduate business courses in situational analysis, strategic planning, and integrated communications. Before moving into the IT field, John was a journalist for 11 years for a wire service (UPI) and broadcast networks, (CBS, Mutual, Group W) where he covered state and local governments and the U.S. Congress. John earned bachelor’s degrees in psychology and political science from Rockford College, and a master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. He has done extensive postgraduate work (Ph.D. abd) in communications management at The Union Institute. In 2008, John completed a master's degree (with honors) in Information Technology & Privacy Law from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago.

   

 

 

Timothy C. Cronin

As founder of the Cronin Law Group, Tim handles a diverse caseload ranging from complex federal and state environmental litigation to insurance bad faith--- and every type of commercial litigation dispute in between. He has extensive experience in all aspects of litigation from inception through trial and appeal. Tim founded the Cronin Law Group upon the principle of dedicated personal and responsive client relationships, pragmatic business oriented solutions to legal problems, and the highest quality legal representation. Tim was born in San Francisco, California and is admitted to practice in California in front of the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, U.S. District Court, Southern District of California, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California, and U.S. District Court, Central District of California. Tim received his J.D. from University of San Francisco School of Law and his B.A. from University of California, Berkeley.

   

 

 

Laura Kyriazis

Laura is the General Counsel for Atrenta, Inc.  She brings over twelve years experiences as an intellectual property, licensing, commercial and corporate transactions attorney. Laura has represented both large public and emerging private high technology companies such as Atrenta, Genentech, Sequence Design, MarketLive, CyberSource, Sensacell, and Cypress Semiconductor as Corporate Counsel and was the lead and senior negotiator for Macrovision Corporation.  She is recognized globally as true team leader with excellent drafting, negotiating, and communications skills who thrives in a dynamic international business environment.  She is at ease with the negotiation of multimillion dollar deals, all areas of software licensing technology, Internet law, international licensing and corporate transactions, immigration, employment and corporate real estate.  Laura graduated from UCLA with top departmental honors in Political Science with an emphasis in Public Law and International Relations.  She received her Juris Doctorate from the University of San Francisco School of Law with an emphasis in Intellectual Property Law. 

   

 

 

Paul Starrett

Paul is owner and founder of Starrett Consulting, a firm that assists the legal community with case management, strategy, investigations and legal consulting. The firm specializes in cases involving electronic evidence. Paul is a licensed private investigator and attorney in California and has attained the prestigious certifications of Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and EnCase Certified Computer Forensics Examiner (EnCE). Paul's twenty-five year career includes four years' in law enforcement, twelve years' in corporate security and four years' in information-security engineering. More recent experience includes four years' as an electronic-discovery project manager with Iron Mountain where he managed every aspect of very large cases for AMLAW 100 firms and Fortune 500 companies. Paul has also worked as an attorney specializing in business/commercial litigation and probate and trust/estate matters. His casework includes arguing one tax case all the way to California's highest tax court and one published appellate case in the Sixth Appellate District of California. To facilitate his effectiveness in fraud, tax and trust/estate cases, Paul attained a postgraduate degree (LL.M.) in Taxation from Golden Gate University.

Paul is nationally published in the areas of interview and interrogation, electronic evidence, private investigations and e-commerce law/technology. Paul has been a member of the Information Security Committee of the American Bar Association where he was an Original Contributor to their publication, the PKI Assessment Guide and an Editorial Board Member of their Digital Evidence Guide. Paul's speaking engagements include presentations in electronic evidence and e-discovery to annual meetings and/or to local chapters of: The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), California District Attorneys' Association (CDAA), High Tech Criminal Investigations Association (HTCIA), California Association of Licensed Investigators (CALI) and the Professional Investigators of California (PICA). Paul enjoys mountain biking, traveling to the California deserts and wine tasting."
